Alex Rodriguez

An article that I read from PRweekus.com was about Alex Rodriguez and how he is now looking to looking for Public Relations support after recently admitting to using performance enhancing drugs in the past. Rodriguez has been the top paid player in the MLB since 1994 when he played for the Seattle Mariners. On February 9 this year, after many speculations, he openly admitted to the offence to an ESPN member about when he played for the Texas Rangers from 2001-2003. He is now facing possible charges and loss of sponsors involving him with the MLB.
After the whole “Mitchell Report” situation in 2007 where many names of MLB players who used performance enhancing drugs came out, the use of these has been taken very seriously, and the MLB is trying to investigate more on where the drugs came from and who is all involved.
The article about Rodriguez talks more about how his PR representative since 2007 is still working with Alex. Also how he has several others working with him to try and help him conserve what reputation he has left with the community. I think that this is a good PR case because with the help of the representatives will probably help Alex retain a lot of his reputation, at least more than he most likely would if he was on his own. I don’t agree with the use of any performance enhancing drug, and the fact that the stuff was legal in the MLB in the past (when A-Rod was taking them) has driven me even further away from the sport than I already was. I think that it is a joke and something needs to be done to control the entire situation. As far as Rodriguez, I guess the best of luck to him because he was a great player. It just makes you wonder how many of the “great players” out there have been or have used these drugs in the past.

Sony Blog 4

An article I read was titled “Sony Tries Fashionable Tack in New Vaio Debut” from prweek.com. It is about Sony and how they recently appointed fashion models to help launch its new Vaio P Series notebook on the streets of Manhattan. This is Sony’s first ever fashion week marketing campaign which is aimed toward “fashionista” men and women.
The models were lined up and down the streets dressed in designer outfits showcasing the notebooks while acting as live mannequins. I think that this is a very effective means for attracting many different types of people. Whether they are someone that is interested in what the models are wearing or someone that is interested in why they are there, or maybe it is a guy that just wants to see real life models up close in person. Whatever the reason may be, these people that are attracted will see what new Vaio P Series is and will most likely be interested leading them to “pick up the product naturally,” especially men.
This article also mentions about how the models blog, update Facebook, and IM with consumers using an extra notebook that is onsite. Since all of these things have become extremely popular over the last few years, doing this and showing the consumers on how easy it actually is to do something like this with a devise that fits right into your hands really is… will really increase Sony’s rate of sale on the new product.
I think that the Vaio P Series notebook is very stylish and is something that will do what they originally intended, attract those “fashionista” men and women. I also feel that it will do very well outside of that box and attract all sorts of people from around the world. From looking at the Vaio P Series website, it is a fairly customizable, very small, and very high tech piece of technology that I myself think would be a very beneficial asset in everyday life.
